The late afternoon and nights are getting cooler

and this is the time of year that I clear the grounds
of weeds and start to till up the hard packed earth of the garden spaces.........
getting them ready for next year's planting season. Although the grass will be removed, I still love the way the seeds look as if the grass is dressed in pearls.

The Zinnia beds and other flowers are enjoying this relief from the heat and starting to look vibrant and full in vivid color.

Some plants are just so lacy and dainty, that it is a shame to call them a weed.........
don't you think?

I am being supervised by a wary horned toad, as it watches me destroy the thick cover it was hiding underneath. There is so much to be done........it will take me all the way up past fall to finish.
How about you? Are you still enjoying the bounty of your gardens or are you getting the space a time ready for rest?

Labor Day is upon us............I have a delicious recipe for the creamiest fruit salad for a Labor Day picnic. The recipe is on my cooking blog...
